Sean Paul Essentials - Apple Music Reggae Let Sean Paul's warbly, dancehall reggae pull you into a great mood. Paul hails from Kingston, Jamaica, where he was on track for a business career when he realized he wanted to pursue music. Inspired by the style of Super Cat, Paul's hip-hop-influenced sounds rose quickly in the reggae world and cracked the American market in 2002. He sang on a Beyoncé track, appeared on Punk'd, and netted four nominations at the American Billboard Association with his '05 release, Trinity. His 2014 album, Full Frequency, was nominated for a GRAMMY®.

Picking up where Shabba Ranks left off, the Jamaican star won his homeland over with his two first albums in the '90s, but would squander the opportunity for international appeal by releasing material that was both violent and homophobic in nature. Converting to Rastafarianism inspired a more thoughtful approach to his songwriting, leading to the acclaimed 'Til Shiloh. Unfortunately this newfound spirituality wouldn't last, and he would be indicted on drug and weapons charges in '09.
